Travelling with cat??

I am currently taking care of my brother's cat while he is away on vacation. We have had her for about a month and will have her for a few more weeks at least. We've had no issues with her except for the fact that we are travelling back home this weekend for an important graduation (4 day trip) and our cat sitter fell through. We live in a university town and we don't have many friends who stick around for the summer/have a car to make daily trips to our house.

I looked into local kennels and because it's not my cat, we have none of the vaccination records. That is looking like it's not an option. Plus it's expensive and again... it's not my cat and we weren't planning on the additional cost on top of the expenses of our road trip.

It looks like we might have to take her with us, but it's a long car ride (6 1/2 hours on a good day but I'm pregnant and expecting to take a lot more pit stops). She doesn't like the car, she cries the whole time. I'm worried about the anxiety a trip this long will give her and on top of that, I have no idea how to travel with a cat. We have her carrier (which thankfully she likes to sleep and hang out in already), her comfort items, litter box, and food etc. We would probably need to get a leash I'm assuming. Are there ways to calm her anxiety? That's what I'm the most concerned about and where my hesitations about taking her with us come into play.

Does this trip seem feasible? Or is it just a bad idea? I can't cancel the trip so I was really hoping for some insight from other pet/cat owners to see what they might do in this situation. My brother thinks she will be fine once she's in there a while but I'm just not sure.

Thanks in advance
