Hello Reddit, I need so help. First, here’s some background details. My dog is a three and a half year old Chiweenie. He was doing great all day being his normal self. I bought him some new toys and a water bowl to try and ease him while my father and I vacuumed and shampooed our carpets. We went to bed and he got me up in the middle of the night to go pee. Nothing too strange there. However, as soon as we came in, he started acting really weird. He sat outside our bedroom door like he was afraid to come in and kept trying to run down the stairs when I approached him. I eventually grabbed him and brought him back in since he can be pretty stubborn at times, but then it got even stranger.
When we sleep, he usually likes to sprawl out near my stomach. However, he kept poking his head out from the covers right next to my face and was very stiff. It’s like he couldn’t get comfortable and he also kept staring at the wall/sit at the head of the bed. He then dropped down from the bed and wanted downstairs again. I let him out, came in, rinse repeat of what I typed above. He wanted down yet again and I followed him this time. He ended up hiding under a table. This scared me since I’ve owned other Chiween’s in the past and know their back problems, but he didn’t seem to be in pain when I pet his back and didn’t yelp when I picked him up; though he keeps hesitating to climb up the stairs. I noticed he’s shaking and I thought I finally got him to calm down and go to bed, but he just dropped down again and is now curled in a small ball next to the door. Any idea what’s up with him?
Tl;dr: My dog can’t get comfortable long enough to fall asleep again and keeps trying to run downstairs.
