Any advice will be appreciated.
I simply adore my cats (Evan and Millie), they undeniably eat better and live healthier than I do. Evan (7 months old) is Millie's (2ish years old) son from her first and only litter.
I love giving my loved ones affection so imagine my struggles when my own cat hates pat's or being held! She won't let me touch her head and dodges my hand when I try to pat her body. She does purr and she sometimes comes up for affection and lets me pat her belly but she doesn't look all that comfortable with it either. Obviously I can't problem solve with the cat and I obviously can't choose my cats preferences in life so how can I show my cat affection without making her uncomfortable?
(Millie's back story) We didn't choose the cat life, the cat life chose us!. She looked like a tiny little sock picking a fight with full grown adult cats for the scraps we leave out at night. We'd just been through a bad storm so we let her in, gave her a meal for the next three days kept tabs on her while she slept behind the couch. We have a running joke that were not sure what's worse, her fearlessness or her survival skills but thinking about it now, we had to teach her how to eat out of a bowl so maybe she was separated from her family too young and missed out on social skills?
