Overweight cat

Hi co fur parents. I need your help here. r/Pets

We adopted an adult cat 3 months ago from a rescuer. We picked him because I like chubby cat. The rescuer said that I picked a lazy overweight cat. He's our first fur baby at home.

We feed our cat 3 times daily. We give him a cat food. We rarely give him a table food. One time, we noticed that he gain weight. OUr cat is getting big and we are afraid of him getting sick knowing that he barely move. He is an indoor cat.

So, we decided to lessen his food. He is now asking food from us. I can tell that he is starving. But we noticed that since we control his food, at night he is hunting food in our kitchen.

How do you guys control the food of your cat? Please share it with me.

Thank you in advance.
