tl;dr: I want a cat and my parents are hitting me with excuse after excuse, how do I break the cycle and convince them to get us a cat?
I'm a 15 year old male, and I've been trying to convince my parents to get us a cat for a while (my little sister has been trying too). And every time I get hit with some excuse.
First, it was that we couldn't find a good enough cat, and that we would have to separate it from it's family. I ended up finding two brother scottish folds who never knew their parents.
Then it was that nobody would want to take care of them (feed them, take out the litter, brush bathe and groom them) both my sister and I volunteered.
Then it was that the living cost for them is too high and my dad doesn't want to pay that much. Both my sister and I (who both get relatively stable income we don't use much from tutoring, helping others etc.) volunteered to support the cats living costs.
Then it was that grandmother and aunts (from fathers side) absolutely hate cats and wouldn't want to visit us if we had them loose. They only visit once maybe twice a year and it's late at night so the cats could be in my bedroom we could lock them for the few hours, and it looks like they may not be coming for a while because they don't seem to like the perticular types of food my mom orders or cooks for whenever they come over.
Then it was that they would mentally and emotionally strain us and we wouldn't focus on our academic peformance. We came up with studies which proved them wrong and theoretical plans on how we can keep up with our schoolwork just fine.
Then it was that when we traveled we couldn't take the cats with us. I'm currently stumped by this and have no clue how to answer.
Can you guys help me with this one? I don't think that constantly answering these excuses will get me anywhere. My mom is convinced but my dad isn't. What can I do about this?
Thanks in advace.
