We adopted a kitten 8 days ago and we’ve done a good job of keeping the two separate while trading scents. My cat has seen the kitten a few times as we have a 1bdrm apartment and hate to keep the kitten entirely locked away as well as she’s taken up the sleeping space of the adult car now. We’ve kept them apart for the most part, but my cat absolutely hates the kitten, anytime she sees her it’s full hissing, growling, lowered posture, etc. even trading scents causes the cat to growl/hiss.
Previously, the older cat had a sister littermate that past away. We thought getting her a kitten would be a good idea cause she was getting really lonely and upset when we went to work. Turns out she’s really unhappy with the kitten. What can I do?
