Long story short our apartment got infested with fleas. Today was our third exterminator spraying. The first two times we made sure the cats and dog were outside of the house during the spraying + the two hours we are supposed to not be in the apartment from the chemicals.
My roommate is out of town this weekend, and my cat isn't difficult and went right into his carrier. I've never had to catch my roommate's cat before and he was hissing and running around, and he ran somewhere I couldn't find him. As I was looking, the exterminator came and was waiting on me. I told him I couldn't find the cat and he said it's fine if the cat stays in the apartment while he sprays and people "leave their animals in the house all the time".
That convinced me to just take my cat (the dog is being babysat elsewhere) and go, leaving my roommate's cat behind.
In hindsight, the exterminator looked pretty young, like early/mid 20s and I knew he was in a rush, so I don't know if he just said that so I would leave.
