While on a walk, I saw a lost dog on the sidewalk. He had a collar on, but the only number available was to an animal hospital that was closed at the time. It was in a yard, so I went up to that particular house with the dog in hand. This lady with her kid on her tricycle were about a house's length in front of me, walking in my direction. I knocked and asked if it was their dog. They said no, just as the lady from the sidewalk said "Oh it's my dog!" and I gave him to her.
I mean, it was very likely her dog right? She didn't look crazy. She looked normal. Seemed like maybe this dog has escaped before. What can one do? I was wondering why she didn't say something while I was walking up to the house with her dog, but I realized I was wearing gray, the dog is gray and small, and she probably didn't register me or the dog. I know I don't like paying attention to people who share the sidewalk with me, just because I don't want to seem weird. I just want to get quickly past them.
