Hey guys, new here, just have a quick question.
I have 2 cats, one is shorthair and one is half Persian and has really long fur. Persian, finds it almost impossible groom himself properly completely and needs grooming regularly, as in, at the vets. I come back from uni and he constantly has terrible matts, (spelling?) at the back where he can't reach. My mother says he can get it out himself and whenever it gets too bad she will just cut his fur. Its really horrid to be honest but she is adamant its not a problem. Even though we all know fleas, dirt etc all grow under these clumps of fur.
Writing this because recently i came back for summer and its gotten so bad she cut out a massive chunk, saying oh it will grow back! Well now his fur is growing unevenly and looks terrible, my friend saw him and said he needs grooming so badly! I dont have the money to take him myself, I love him so much but my parents don't care, they won't take him and if I say to them they literally argue with me and say stop making a big deal out of it, its fine.
Isn't this animal cruelty to an extent? What should I do? I want him taken care of and I feel so bad his fur is constantly in this condition.
