My girlfriend and I have two dogs, a four year old yorkie, and an 8 year old pomeranian, both girls. Our yorkie has started to attack our pom with no provocation, and we cant figure out why anymore.
It's not even that they slight each other-- she will cross the room, or even the apartment, completely calm, then jump the other. Fights are almost guaranteed when somebody comes in the door so we have to lock somebody up at all times if nobody is here.
She almost seems to try and outsmart us too, going for the kill when we are distracted, leading fights under furniture and in our crate, specifically to stop us from intervening. They haven't had issues their whole lives, this only started a few months ago when my girlfriend got a new but very stressful job, but she has since left that so we dont think that matters, and they have gotten progressively worse, especially in the last month.
Is there any way we can deal with this without rehoming our yorkie? We are open to suggestions, we just dont want to split our family of four if possible. Thank you.
