This is my first time posting ever, so please let me know if there’s anything I need to edit, or if this post belongs elsewhere, etc...
My husband and I recently adopted a 1-year old female cat. For reference, we got her Saturday and it is now Monday. She is super cute and playful, loves to snuggle! There are just two things we are struggling with: 1.) Food. I have a bag of food the shelter gave us, and they said she eats that mixed with wet food. I want to transition to her just eating dry food, how do I do that? Just less and less wet food? I feel like it can’t be that easy...
2.) This is our main concern. She keeps meowing. She’ll be in the living room with us and just meow! Maybe she is being chatty with us, but it’s a lot! Especially at night. We’re trying to not allow her to sleep in the bedroom with us (husband never had cats and doesn’t like them moving around in the bed while he tries to sleep) so we keep her out and the door shut. Cue meowing. Constantly. For hours. I’ve given in at like 2am because I don’t mind and it upsets me to hear her be so upset. Have I majorly messed up? Will we be able to train her like crate-training a dog (just let her meow and over time she’ll stop?) is this related to her regular daytime meowing (and how can we stop that, if at all?)
We love her and she’s great but I’ve never had such a noisy cat before!
