Girlfriend found a stray cat. She ended up calling the non emergency line due to the time of day. Is the cat going to be ok?

She was worried about it all day. I told her I'd probably take it home and sequester it separately until we could get it to the shelter a day later.

She found the car where there weren't any homes near by, but enough traffic that it getting hit is worrisome. The cat was super friendly I guess and accustomed to people.

She called the station back this morning and they weren't sure what happened to the cat but the front desk lady told her it probably either got returned to its family or sent to animal control.

Suffice to say shes concerned about the cat, but with our current living situation we cant get a third cat right now. Did she do ok?
