I got Salem about 4 years ago when I was going through what was probably the worst time in my life and we had a huge connection. He’s always been there for me and I know that sounds silly but I swear he’s like my pet soulmate or spirit animal or something. I didn’t think I would ever be able to get another pet because I knew Salem would be jealous. As of lately Salem has been being kind of distant.
So let me give you some back story on the situation:
I dog sit for my friend and two weeks ago the two dogs boarded with me. They hate cats so I had to keep them away from Salem by closing off my room so the dogs can stay on my half of the house and the cats can stay on the other half of the house. So Salem hasn’t been in my room for around a week. And when the dogs left he really didn’t come in my room at all.
Fast forward to last week when I found this poor little beautiful kitten in my yard and decided I would take it in for the night since it was going to storm. One night turned into more and now we’ve decided to keep him. But Salem hasn’t been acting the same with me. He’s really distant. He normally lays down with me every night but ever since I boarded those dogs he’s been distant. He will snuggle up with me in my living room but just won’t come near my bed anymore. Is it because of the scent of another cat? Is it because he wasn’t allowed in my room for so long while the dogs were here? Does anyone have any idea what’s going on? He’s breaking my heart.
(I’m sorry if this is poorly written I’m tired and I’m bad at putting thoughts to words)
