I'm currently pet-less due to my living situation and I'm going a little crazy. I don't cope well with people, but can bond with animals, so they're basically my only option for companionship. Time/attention isn't an issue, as I'm housebound, so I'm at their beck and call. I can get most stuff like food, bedding, enclosures, etc. delivered and I have a local vet who is happy to do home visits/pick-ups, so unless the pet needs something really unusual there shouldn't be any care issues.
I can't have any animal that would cause a nuisance and my flat is too small for a cat or dog anyway. No birds because of the noise. No fish or bugs because I just don't have any kind of bond with them. I like lizards and snakes well enough, but being realistic, I don't think I'd cope with their food needs.
I considered a hamster, but the flat is suspectible to temperature fluctuations due to poor insulation (got up to 30C on the hotter days this summer, down to 10C or so last winter) and a hamster definitely wouldn't cope during the winter.
Are there any other pets who are okay with a wide range of temperatures and don't make a lot of noise?
