Rabbit is underweight

I rescued him a couple days ago (yes, it's a house rabbit) and I will take him to the vet in the weekend. He is really skinny but sweet. Currently not as active as I would like but hopefully there will be improvement; wouldn't consider it lethargic though because there are moments of energy, I just think he's a bit weak. Ears perk up as well so that's a positive. Currently, I have his trust and is willing to cuddle.

The rabbit is underweight and missing some fur. I have no idea how or why (my guess is that is desperately squeezed through something tight). No sign of an owner so I'll take him. I've been doing research on the basics like diet and Its been eating Timothy hay (a lot), romaine lettuce, and some cilantro. I've seen the food pyramid so I'm wary of the importance of the hay (and the quantity over the greens), but he obviously needs to gain some weight. The vet will tell me what to do, but any advice will be super useful. Thank you!

(I've never taken an animal to the vet so any additional advice on this would be helpful)
