I have never had a pet before and really enjoy the thought of taking one on. I tried to look up some advice on Google but all I could find was advice for first-time pets to kids.
My situation: I live alone in an apartment and have a steady salary, though I'm hoping to keep expenses relatively low. This pet needs to be easy to take care of because I have no experience caring for anything other than plants. I occasionally travel for work up to a week at a time but typically this happens less than once every two months (I know people that could help care for my pet while I travel), otherwise I work a standard 7am-4pm job and am home every evening/night.
I like the idea of a less common pet like a crested gecko but it would also be great to be able to play with something like a ferret!
