I [22F] really need help on this one, I’m a long time lurker and will definitely be cross posting this but my boyfriends [23M] cat Kitty has suddenly become extremely aggressive. We have been dating for a year and I’ve been moved in for a few months. She was always precociously friendly but never aggressive just very verbal and hates when i pick her up so I don’t. We used to keep a baby gate against the door so she could eat and use her litter box without the dog eating everything. She usually poops next to the box so we took her to the vet because i saw some blood, medication was working good but she needs to be given some from a soft syringe so we have to restrain her to get her to eat it. Usually his mom helps but i do too since it’s for 7 days (I’ve helped give her meds like this once before). Well a few days ago she peed during and she has a sore lump on her paw and mouth, i can only imagine these discomforts aided it what happened next...
I was cleaning with headphones in yesterday and as I stepped over the baby gate it fell and she ran over and scratched me. I went to go check on her as I thought she ran into the pantry/backroom and she ran out and scratched me again. I slammed the door shut and was held hostage to her screaming and growling at the door. At some point i peeked out as she walked away but promptly ran at the door growling and hissing and so I slammed the door shut and she let out another scream and more growling. Eventually with time she went up stairs and I wrapped a blanket around me and ran to out room as it exits outside because i absolutely had to leave for work. I bought $100 dollars worth of hormone calming products and she seemed agitated but OK with my boyfriend home. The calming stuff barely works as she still hisses at me and just now after playing with her for an hour and feeding her she walks into our room while I’m taking care of my leopard gecko and gives me super dilated eyes, it’s been 30 mins since we played so I didn’t think she was still excited. I reached out and sweetly said “whats wrong baby” and she started advancing towards me while hissing. I yelled at my boyfriend (in the room playing games) to get his cat and she instantly calmed down and tried to act innocent but he shoed her out and shut the door. I really need help, I’m extremely anxious and I can’t handle living afraid of a cat, i also can’t stand moving back in with my parents or making him give her up. Please help, i had a panic attack from being trapped in the room and the constant screaming.
