Thoughts On People Who Don't Take Their Pets To Vets?

I have mixed feelings but I don't know if I'm being classist. What are your thoughts?

Where I live, no one seems to take their pet to a vet unless they're vomiting, bleeding, or otherwise seriously ill. Yearly checkups are a no-go. And, this is assuming we're talking about dogs or cats. People look at me like I have two heads when I suggest taking a bird or small mammal to a vet. They're "just a parakeet" or "just a rabbit". If they're ill then you just let them be until they get better or die. Luckily, the ASPCA often sets up their vans in my area once a year so that people can neuter their pets and get vaccines.

Poorer people should have pets too, but pets aren't an obligation. If you can't afford to give one the minimum then you shouldn't own one.
