Training my cat to help with my single sided deafness. Is it possible? (He is a very active and curious cat. He is 2 years old. I just adopted him, not for the purpose involving my deafness, but thought it could be nice if I could train him?

I’ve always wanted a cat. Now I can do it after a year and half of thinking about it. I found a cat around 2 years old (for context). I’m deaf on one side, so I was thinking about maybe it be great to get the cat trained to run to the door if someone rings the doorbell/knocks, if the phone rings and I don’t hear it, if someone calls my name, etc. I’m especially concerned for when I’m sleeping.

I’ll be getting a hearing aid in January, but I can’t sleep with it on, and I dunno...being a single female in a city in an apartment/house (in the future), it kind of concerns me. I can’t hear anything when I’m sleeping at night on my good ear, so for my cat to hear those sounds for me and to alert me literally even just him hitting his paw against my face, it would be helpful.

I just don’t know if there is a such a thing with cats for stuff like that because it’s mainly towards dogs. Cats are just as smart as dogs? So is it not possible?
