Some backstory: I have four cats and recently got a job in my career with good pay so I can afford high quality food. I didn’t know that the brand I was usually buying for them was the equivalent of junk food (Meow Mix) until recently :(
So I bought them Simply Nourish Chicken High Protein adult food and mixed it into their Meow Mix since I did some research and the sudden change can cause stomach problems. The problem is two of them (1.5 years old and 7 years old) refuse to eat Simply Nourish. They’ll only eat the Meow Mix bits and they’ll let the other food sit there for a good day or sometimes longer before eating it. I’m not sure if it’s the brand but my oldest cat has no problem with it. My question is how to get them to eat the more nutritious food? I don’t want them to eat it because they are starving.
And then there is a different problem with my youngest cat (a little over 1 year old). She cannot handle the nutritious brand at all. If she eats more than a couple pieces she’ll throw up everything. Is she too young, should I still be feeding her kitten food? Is it possibly the brand??
Everyone except the youngest refuses to eat wet food too. I’m thinking I just feed the youngest one wet food since it’s better for her.
My older cats are also super picky and won’t eat anything that isn’t turkey or chicken flavor. They won’t even eat Meow Mix if it’s any flavor other than chicken.
Also if there are better brands then please leave any suggestions. I want my cats to live long, healthy lives.
