Cat stealing other cats food

Okay, so we rescue and bottle feed abandoned kittens, we kept our first 2, and continue to foster a litter couple times a year. So we have a boy, Milkie. and a girl, Mow. So Milkie is a grazer with his food. Takes a few bites every couple hours. He’s a perfect weight 13 pounds. Mow will eat every kibble in sight and beg for more all day long. When they were about a year old this started. And she started stealing milkies food. So Mow got overweight. Up to 16.3 pounds. And Milkie wasn’t “underweight” but he was on the lean side. I think he was about 12.5 pounds. And I wanted him to be at about 13 So we tried to get Milkie into eating meals, and not free feeding, so that Mow wouldn’t steal his food anymore. And he just wouldn’t get into it. And got down to 12 pounds. So we figured out a solution, to put Mow on an automatic feeder to get fed 3x a day. And Milkie eats on top of the fridge. Mow is now down to a healthy weight of 13.8 pounds. And Milkie is up to 13.3. They are big cats, so this is a really good weight for them.

But the problem is, now that mow is a normal weight again, she learned that she can once again get on top of the fridge, and get to Milkies food.

The problem isn’t even her just getting on top of the fridge and eating extra. It’s that she is on a low calorie food, about 300 calories a cup, and Milkie is on a high calorie food, about 450 calories a cup, since he doesn’t eat a bunch in the first place.

So currently, we have to feed Milkie in the bathroom, and just bring him in there 100x a day to see if he’s hungry. I literally cannot get him on scheduled feedings. He just doesn’t want to eat a whole meal at a time. And like I said above, last time he lost weight because he didn’t want to eat a whole meal.

So i saw there’s selective feeders, where they will only open for the cat wearing a special tag on their collar, but they’re $150..

I know there has to be someone out there who has this problem too 😬 does anyone have any cheaper alternatives? Or share any ideas! I mean I will buy the bowl if I can’t find anything else that works, but there has to be SOMETHING right?
