My beloved rescue dog has chronic diarrhea and it's taking a toll on my morale (I have to clean up her diarrhea around the aparmtent in the morning, at my lunch break, and after work). Sometimes her meds work well (she takes steroids), but sometimes she'll relapse for no reason. Other than the ever lasting smell of shit in my house, and the constant cleaning (even though I put down waterproof undersheet), I am also very worried about her longevity. I love her more than words can say, as you can imagine and I'm constantly afraid that our moments together will be the last (although the vets don't seem very pessimistic, the fact that her treatment doesn't work super well isn't a good news)
How do you deal with a pet that has a chronic, uncurable disease? How do you keep morale up?
