I’ve always been a cat owner for my entire life and never had a dog. I want to get a dog in the future with my boyfriend, who is an avid dog lover. His dog he has now is 5, and he’s had her before our relationship. I believe animals shouldn’t have human food besides on special occasions, or it should definitely be not on the daily. I think it’s odd when I see people give their cats human food as well.
He’s a responsible dog owner. She gets enough exercise, he’s working on separation anxiety with her, and she’s taken care of. He feeds her a little bit of human food with every meal he has ( as long as it’s dog friendly). If he’s making say toast he’ll make her some as well. If he eats carrots, he’ll give her soon or whatever he’s snacking on.
I just think it’s odd. I don’t mind giving her something on the rare occasion, but for every meal??? She’ll sit under the table and whine for food or stare at you while you’re eating, which I find to be annoying. She’s not my dog, and I’ve told him I know I don’t make these decisions, but I don’t think she should get human food every day. Am I crazy for thinking this? I wouldn’t want him to feed another dog we get together like this. Or am I missing something since I’ve never owned a dog before?
