I usually let my cat out only during daylight, and only while I'm home to make sure nothing happens. But sometimes I get distracted and it gets dark without me bringing her in.
When I try to bring her in once its dark, she still does her usual thing of running away, climbing trees etc. But when I finally pick her up, she growls or hisses at me.
Of course, I always check her over to make sure she's not actually injured or something, and a few minutes after she's back inside she goes back to being sweet and loving and curling up next to me.
My cat and I have a good relationship, and she is very affectionate and friendly with me. This is the only time she hisses or growls at me.
I have a theory that she's just annoyed I'm interrupting her play, but I wanted to make sure its not any other reason, something that I should be worried about. I don't think she's in pain, as she is fine with me picking her up at any other time. But maybe she is?
Has this happened with anyone else? Can anyone say if my theory is correct or if I should be worried?
