My cat's brother died, and now he's looking for him at night. How can I make him more comfortable?

I had two cats, both 2 1/2 years old. On Friday night, one was hit by a car and we had no choice but to have him put down.

Both of them had a bond like no other I have seen between two cats. They'd go out together and come in together, they'd sleep together and of course play together. Now the one left behind, the shy one, is blatantly not himself. At night he just walks around the house, sniffing and searching for his brother. He is less sociable with me, like his only aim is to find his brother. Here in the UK, we're experiencing a storm, and my cat is going in and out into the wind and rain, frantically, for no other reason I can think of than to search for his brother.

I've bought him toys to play with, and do my best to play with him to keep him active, but when it's midnight, I can't do this. I have bought him luxury cat food, treats etc. Of course this won't replace his brother though.

I'm not sure what else I can do to ease his grieving, which to me he is clearly experiencing.

Is there anything that will make him more comfortable in his new situation?
