Should i get a pet? And if yes, what kind?

(Sorry in advance if this question doesn't go here, please notify me if it's the wrong sub for this question and i will delete it.)

Hello everyone. I desperately want a pet, but i dont know if it's a good idea for me to get one, and if it is, then what should i get. Here are the things i deal with:

  • I deal with a lot of mental illnesses, and while i'm doing much better, i do have my regular relapses where i can't get out of bed or cook.
  • I work from home and dont leave the house much, so taking an animal out for hour-long walks isn't an option, 20-30 minutes of walking is fine though.
  • I want a pet that doesn't need a lot of vet visits. Or a lot of expensive things to stay healthy. I'm doing okay financially and can support myself and another living being, but only in a low range.
  • I'm not good with entertaining animals and playing with them all the time, so i dont really want energetic breeds, i just want an affectionate pet to cuddle with.
  • I want to be able to touch the animal and pat them, so fishes are not an option.
  • i dont have a lot of space for an animal to run around, i share my house with two roommates and have no backyard, and i prefer to have a pet that i can keep in my room in their own space. (I can build a thing for them in my room, but it'll be a small area.)
  • i'm allergic to hamsters and guinea pigs. It's a new allergy i've found to different things in the recent years, so i'm not sure if i'm allergic to other rodents too or not. I have had rabbits, cats and dogs before, and i wasn't allergic to them.

So my question is, should i get any pets? I would really really love a companion, but i dont want the animal to suffer with my limitations. And if i have options, specific dog/cat breeds, etc, what are they?
