Due to a breakup, I've had to split up my cats. I brought two (female) kitties into our relationship, and he and I obtained another kitty (male) when we were together. The male cat has really bonded with my ex, so it was obvious that he needed to stay with him. Due to my current living situation, I could only take one of my two female cats, and I took the one i raised from birth and the most bonded to me. My ex agreed to keep the other so I didn't have to rehome her, she could stay in a familiar space and also so our male cat has a buddy. It has been about a month since I seperated from them, and the female cat I unfortunately had to leave seems to be struggling the most out if it. I'm not sure if it's due to seperation from me or my other female kitty, but my ex says she seems to be really depressed. She doesn't play much. Rarely leaves the place she sleeps unless it's to eat or use the bathroom. Apparently she won't even go into the bedroom we shared. I feel so awful about it, but I felt like this was the best way for her to adjust without having to rehome her. Any suggestions on how to make this seperation easier on her?
