i have both cats and leopard geckos living with me. long story short, i came home from school one day and the top was knocked off one of my gecko’s tanks. she has scratch marks and puncture wounds and we deducted that it was one of the cats that got in there and did it. he’s our kitten that we just got a few months ago. my gecko ended up dying two days later (today) since we could not get a vet appointment in soon enough. i’m conflicted. i love our kitten very much and i know he probably didn’t know any better, but he did kill my gecko who was only 2 and had so many years left to live. she was otherwise healthy and this loss devastated me. i don’t know what to do with the kitten, though. if a dog bites somebody... the go to the shelter or get put down. i can only imagine if a dog killed another pet that it would get sent away. i hate looking at the kitten knowing he caused this, but i have so much love for him still. does anybody have a similar story maybe? or just some words of advice? it would really help me out.
