What kind of bird should I get?

So, I (23F) am interested in getting a bird, but I am very stuck as to what kind.

I have never owned a bird, but I am extremely animal savvy. I have had lots of experience taking care of exotic and non exotic animals over the years. I feel confident in my abilities to care for a bird (depending on the kind)

I work the typical 9-5, Monday thru Friday. I am willing to get a large flight cage for the times when I am not able to be around. I would like to have the bird out when I am home to cuddle or play with.

I would like a bird who loves to cuddle and interact. The ONLY reason I am not getting a dog or cat is because I will be waiting untill I move in with my BF. I only currently own a rabbit, and that's it! No other pets.

I love background noise, so chirping (or squaking) is absolutely welcomed. My place is usually eerily quiet, so having noise puts me at a bit of ease.

I currently live in an apartment (825 sq ft, 2 bed) but it's set into the ground, on the bottom floor, and I do have sound proofing items (curtains, foam, etc)

I am a little scared of parrots, especially big ones. They seem a little dangerous! But I think I would be open to a mid size or smaller parrot. I adore small quail like birds, and finches, but I hear that small birds usually dont like cuddling.

I would absolutely love to adopt and have already contacted my local bird adoption agency, but I am overwhelmed with the opportunities to make new friends!

What do you think? What kind of bird would fit my life? Thank you!
