I've been in this sub quite a bit recently, buuut I'm back looking for a smidge more advice as a first-time kitten owner. Our adult cat (~2 years old) is very friendly with our new kitten (about 9 weeks old), but is obviously much bigger and stronger than the little guy. They're both very playful and are always chasing each other around and playing together. However, it's obvious that they're just having fun, and not actually fighting.
My only concern is that the adult cat sometimes gets too caught up and overstimulated during play time--even with us, his owners. I've noticed a few times while he and the kitten are play-wrestling, he gets really worked up and latches on to the kitten, pinning him to the floor. He hasn't injured the kitten or anything so far, but I have heard the kitten crying out when our adult cat takes it too far. It's difficult for me to distinguish between the kitten actually being in pain, or just being frustrated that he's pinned down and can't wrestle his way out.
What is the best thing for me to do in this situation to make sure that our adult cat doesn't accidentally harm our kitten?
