Hey so I've been having this problem with my cat for the last two years and I still can't wrap my head around it! I have a shorthair tabby who sheds a lot, but I mean a LOT. Like when I groom her I have a whole hand full of fur after 5 minutes. I thought maybe it was her diet but I have her on prescribed Hill's science food that costs me $50 a bag and it hasn't helped with her shedding (before that I fed her Purina One for 5 months and before even that I had her on blue Buffalo) I groom her but I have to be incredibly careful because if I groom her too much she actually gets bald spots. She drinks and eats fine, and I was even told by groomers to give her a bath with furmigator shampoo but it hasn't helped (I also use the furmigator brush +undercoat brush on her). I'm just especially worried about her fur due to her constantly choking and throwing up fur balls at least twice a week and I feel like she's going to have even more issues later.
Im aware cats shed, however I've had many cats before her and even have a second cat now and none have shed as much as she has. To give you an idea, I swept my floor yesterday and most of my "trash" was just her fur. She's a shorthair tabby and I'm just so confused lol I don't think she should be shedding this much.
