I'm just wondering if there are any domesticated birds that are smart enough to be trained to use their cage when they need to go, so that they don't do it on your shoulder or some such.
I was at a pet store today looking at dogs, and noticed there was an open cage with parakeets in it with their wings clipped and they seemed rather nice, I put my hand down in the cage to see if they'd come up to me and all, they kinda didn't but they didn't really run either. So it made me curious, if there is a bird that can be trained so that I can give it a cage as a home and a restroom / feeding area, but leave the cage open when I'm home so that it can fly around my room freely without having to worry about bird shit on everything.
I imagine the bird would have fun flying around grabbing bugs and ants and such in this old place, but primarily I just want the bird to have a wide open area like my room as its home rather than cage. If I were to consider getting a bird that is.
