We rescued two brother cats four years ago now. They have always got on well and slept together with a few minor fights every now and again. We got another kitten a week ago, and apart from a few hisses they have generally tolerated her. Today very unexpectedly, while the kitten was sitting away and one of the cats was sitting on the chair, the other older cat came in from outside. He had a quick sniff and suddenly the cat came down from the chair. (The kitten was still sitting away at this point.) The older cat attacked his brother very aggressively. There was fur everywhere so we opened the door and they both went outside. This has never happened before so we were quite shocked and very worried. We love the kitten and are quite pleased the cats seem to be tolerating her, however we don’t want to sacrifice the brothers relationship. Does anyone have any answers or suggestions? Thank you.
