Dog staring in corner instead of getting bed

My foster dog is doing something really weird and I’m turning to reddit for some middle of the night advice.

I’ve had my foster, 4 year 60 lb pit mix, for almost 2 months now. I used to invite him in bed but now I let him start sleeping on the couch, but I usually wake up with him in the bed. Tonight I woke up to him pacing, I realized I maybe didn’t take him out for a late enough pee break earlier, took him out he peed, we came back in.

Now...instead of getting in bed or sleeping on the couch he went to a corner of the bedroom in between my nightstand and closet, and just stared. Sat and started for about 5 minutes, then laid down in the right corner.

He has never done this. He is usually great about sleeping through the night, unless he’s sick. He had a real problem at first with eating anything he could find on walks and would get sick about once a week, diarrhea and sometimes vomiting. I’ve been working really hard with him in training, but still he finds thing in the grass I do not see from time to time. Today I know he got a big bone piece or something, all I know is it was hard for him to chew and it’s not like I can take it out.

So he could be about to vomit...but the corner thing is throwing me off. He’s now curled into a tight ball in there. It’s just very odd because he’s a bit of a princess and never lays on the bare floor unless he’s hot from a walk. He once even took a sweatshirt off my office chair to lay on instead of the floor when I was too far from the couch.

The last time he exhibited even close behavior was during a thunderstorm he wedged himself behind the water heater. I’m also cautious because the only time he nipped at me it was when he was about to throw up so I’m keeping my distance.

I’ll probably stay awake to see if anything changes. Any suggestions? Middle of the night support?
