My fiance and I own two cats--one has been with us for about 3-4 months and is around 1.5-2 years old. Neutered, male. We adopted a new kitten and brought him home a few days ago--also male & neutered, about 8 weeks old.
Our first cat is normally pretty good with other cats--we used to babysit for a family friend's cat frequently (also a male, about 3 years old) and although our cat was apprehensive at first, the two became quick friends within the first week.
The kitten has not had such luck. Our adult cat is PISSED. He is constantly screaming, yowling, growling, and attacking my fiance and I. Most of the time, he tries to avoid us. It's been like this since the kitten came home--much worse than it was with our friend's cat. Neither of us is sure why he's so upset with this particular one, because the kitten is very friendly and gentle and has not so much as hissed at him.
Does anyone know why he seems to hate our kitten in particular, and how to improve the situation?
