How to tame a feral kitten

So my aunt has had a cat come around her house for several years now, and now that cat has a litter of kittens that are at this point probably 8 weeks old.

She was going to take the kittens to the shelter but said we could have them if we wanted. After some research we determined we want 2 of the kittens but they don't interact with my aunt much, she's been able to hold the mother but the kittens are still skeptical, even though she plays with them using those toys with strings on them. They approach her slightly and she feeds them.

I want to know what's the best way to go about actually containing them? Would a "trap" of food work in a cat carrier that we shut and take them home/to the vet in? On a side note I'd have a small play pen for them to be inclosed in for them to be safe and feel secure.

Does anyone have any experience or good ways to go about this?

Edit: should I also take them to the vet asap or home?
