I have parakeets and I’m getting a kitten in a few weeks, will I be able to make sure kitten doesn’t eat them?

I have a few parakeets I’ve had for years in a large cage. It’s about 4-5 feet tall and elevated about a foot off the ground, it’s definitely big and sturdy. I’m getting my kitten soon I just have to wait until the litter im picking from gets spayed/neutered. Would it be a possibility to train the kitten since it will be so little to stay away from/not bother the birds, at least not try to eat them? If so how? Does anybody else have birds cats together? I know when we leave the house we’re going to keep the birds behind a closed door just for safety but I want them all to live in the house peacefully. I’m hoping I can train the kitten to not want to hunt them but I’ve never had a kitten before so i don’t know if that’s a thing. The kitten I have my eyes on at the shelter is a Russian grey if that makes any difference due to temperament.
