Im not sure why people think cats are so independent. They get very dependent very quickly.

This stray showed without testicles so someone neutered him. I typically feed him in the fenced back lot he lives in, but lately he's been showing up at the house. Having dogs which want to hunt animals like cats, gophers, etc, this makes it pretty dangerous for him. Even if food is dumped, he finishes eating it and then wants to follow around whoever brought it, empirically showing there is no desire for food, just attention.
