Hello. I have a 6 year-old Corgi Female named Lady with a sort of sad past. At her old home (before we got her), she was abused by two Blue Heelers. She was bit in the ribs and had half of her ear torn off. Due to this, she is very hostile towards other dogs (She loves humans tho). We do believe, though, that because we bring her to the doggy daycare in our area, she is getting better.
My family was considering getting a new dog, but due to my current dogs hostility, we are very hesitant. If we were to get a puppy (at legal adoption age, of course. Adoptable puppy aged.) and introduce it to my current dog, do you think my current dog would be less hostile to it because we introduced it as a puppy?
My family really wants a new dog and don't really want to wait until my dog passes (Corgi's live to about 12-15, which would be at least 6 years) and are trying to find solutions to adopting a new dog. And yes, we do want to get a puppy so we can train it. We are interested in a Poodle mix, our favorite being the Aussiedoodle.
I'm open to any ideas on how to tackle this matter. Thank you. :)
