So I recently (just yesterday) adopted a six month old cat named luna! She’s an absolute sweetheart and loves to play when she’s not being shy, however petting is still hard for her. I believe she has a hard time telling the difference between playing and petting and seeing as she loves to paw her toys with her claws out it’s a bit of a problem when we try to pet her and she can’t tell the difference. I don’t believe this is fear or her using her claws as a defense as she seems very relaxed. This is my first cat my family hasn’t trained and I don’t know how to help her tell the difference or stop this clawing behavior when we try to pet her and having a hard time finding advice elsewhere. I want to get this figured out as otherwise my family wishes to declaw her and I’d prefer not to. Thanks in advance!
