Rant on a neglectful owner

So I'm in some chicken groups on Facebook because I have pet chickens. I saw a post in one of the group's about someone's chicken who is egg bound. The post stated that she's been in discomfort for three days. then the poster goes on to say that the vet said she'll need surgery and she is "not going to pay for surgery on a chicken". Reading that post just pissed me off because when you take in an animal you take responsibility for that animal. Their well-being and happiness is dependent on you. You can't just decide that you don't think that animal is worth it. these are things that people should consider before they run out and get animals. when she was buying her chicken she should have thought to herself what is going to happen if one gets sick. If you're not going to take care of your animals you shouldn't get them. No matter whether you think their life is worth it or not.
