i brought home two shells thinking they were abandoned.. one came out and i realized i accidentally brought one home. the ocean is 6 hours away so i couldn’t just go and bring them back so i decided to keep it. i researched and realized i needed one or two more because they get lonely. so i went and got two more from the store. then came home to find the other one was there too. i now have 4 hermit crabs and set up a 50 gallon tank for them with slightly moist sand, a plastic container with a salt water solution and a sponge, and some decorative items. i realized one of my hermit crabs from the ocean were beginning to turn a bit grey and were hardly moving. i was very sad to figure out she was dying. she was very small. she died today along with the other one i had from the ocean but the two land ones are doing fine. i was pulling the dead body of the first one out of the shell and out comes thousands of eggs. god da** it. i don’t know what to do now.. the eggs are fine but the mom is dead.. i didn’t even know she was pregnant and i searched you how to tell the gender and it talked about the anatomy and how they have a big claw but the two i have from the ocean don’t have big claws they just have tiny legs.. the two i got from petsmart which were in a tank that was mainly rocks and an inch of water have big purple claws. i’m so confused
