Advice for travelling long distance with a cat

We will soon be moving to a town 5hrs away, including stops the drive would be around 7hrs.

Any tips for travelling that long with our puss? I worry about her needing the bathroom, though I figured we could start the trip once she had done a poo in the litterbox that morning, and then hopefully she wouldn't need it again until we reached our new home.

She becomes a stress head in her carrier. Actually she LOVES her carrier when it's just sitting around the house lol, but as soon as she's locked inside she cowers at the bottom in a little ball. I'm worried about traumatising the poor thing by keeping her in for such a long time :-(

Any advice that will make this trip easier on her is appreciated, TIA!
