My roommate got a cat a while ago, and I was clear that it would be her cat. She works a lot, and is barely home for the cat, so the cat has bonded with me significantly more. She feeds the cat in the morning (sometimes forgets so I do it), and has started expecting me to feed it dinner. The litter box is always a mess, so I clean it, and its food area has crusted old food around it. I do really love the cat, and I don’t want it to be alone and hungry. The cat will sleep in my bed, scratch at my door, follow me around and constantly want to cuddle with me. The issue is that I didnt sign up for this, and now my roommate is very jealous of my bond with her cat. She has started making passive aggressive comments about how much the cat likes me, and im not too sure what to do about it. When my roommate is home, I feel uncomfortable and try to push the cat towards my roommate to avoid tension, which is extremely hard because the cat will leave her room to come see me, constantly. Im not too sure how to go about this. Any suggestions or opinions would help.
