I rescued a stray cat who happened to be pregnant. I tried to acclimate her to a box with an entry and some towels in it for her to give birth to but she chose one of those blue storage bins that I had upstairs with old hoodies inside it. She gave birth while nobody was home to 3 kittens. Well that was some time 2 weeks ago and now the kittens have opened their eyes and are starting to want to get out of the bin. Two problems.
The bin is up stairs and it's literally right next to the stairs. My first fear is that they'll fall from the bin which looks like a bad situation for a baby kitten. Second fear is they'll fall down the stairs and roll down. SO when she got up from feeding them I brought the bin downstairs and placed them in the box on the same hoodies they had already been sleeping in. She hated that. I kept trying to bring her downstairs and she would leap from my arms and go to where the bin was before or under my bed. I was finally able to get her to realize they were in the box and she licked them. Then she started being really vocal and lounging away from the box. Her meows are like trills but concerned or like as if she was fed up with attitude. Will everything be okay? Should I move them back? And if I do will they get hurt if they fall from the storage bin?
