Hi, I know I probs won’t get any responses but thought I might as well. I am really struggling with my 6m dsh. Don’t get me wrong he’s the sweetest funniest thing but his behaviour when bored is despicable.
I feel like I’ve done everything. He has so many toys and I used to take him out for walks but for various reasons I can’t do that at the moment and we play all the time. I’m waiting to get paid to get him desexed but this has been a long standing issue and in personal experience desexing doesn’t really change behaviour. I’m also waiting on a kitten to be old enough to leave her mum (which she’s still got about a month on her yet). I just can’t cope with it. So all in all I don’t feel like there’s much else I can do at the moment.
He refuses to play on his own the majority of the time so he will purposely do stuff that he knows he shouldn’t be doing or he will just won’t leave me alone which then in turn makes me lose my temper and shout at him. Which I know obviously doesn’t help but I’m at my wits end and it’s not just his behaviour that I’m currently dealing with.
There’s no way I would get rid of him but I need help so we both have better quality of lives. I just don’t know how to deal with his behaviour anymore. I’ve only got limited space and I live in a complex so there’s no garden space either. Besides if I put him out on his own he just wants to follow me back in and he hates being outside when other people are there too. I feel like I’ve tried all methods of trying to modifying his behaviour from time outs in the bathroom, to spray bottles, tapping him on the nose and so on. Literally NOTHING helps.
It would be appreciated if people did reply not to say “oh just do this....” because that’s very narrow minded, ignorant and I’ve probably tried i already. I want and need actual helpful suggestions because neither of us are having a good time right now and were both just lashing out at each other and winding each other up and it’s not fair for either of us.
