I have recently adopted two kittens (siblings), they are now around 3.5 months old and male cat won't stop urinating on my clothes and all other weird places, he urinated on my shoes, in the bathtub, under the bathtub, carpet, and continues to do so. We have been to the vet, he doesn't have a problem with UTI, he suggested adding one more litter box and feromone diffuser. I would also like to mention that they eat variety of food (dry and wet and some fancy treats), they have mice, lasers, that scratching tree, I play with that feathery thing with them too.
Now they have two litter boxes, I changed the litter from crystals to sandy, natural one "World's best litter", and he uses that one as well but won't stop peeing everywhere else as well. I also bought feromone diffuser two days ago, but it doesn't seem to help much. I am desperate. I can't clean anymore, I have headaches from all these cleaning solutions, my apartment smells either like pee or like cif. I do understand what it means to take care of animal, but this is simply not a normal behavior. The female cat is well behaved, never does things like this. It is too early to neuter him. One of my friends sugestted that it's a problem because he is getting territorial and that I should try to tame him by tying him on a leash for some time to "assert dominance" and teach him good behavior (so he will get pets and traits when he pees in his litter box) and while that does sound potentially beneficial, I don't have the heart to tie him and see him suffer.
I am very exhausted and don't know what to do anymore. I thought about giving him up for adoption but I am afraid my female kitten will suffer a lot because I got both of them so they could keep each other company when I am at work. Will she be able to be on her own without him when I am not at home? I really connected with her and I don't want to give both of them up, it is really hard to make a good decision here, I would appreciate any insight.
