My dog wont stop vomiting on my bed.

For a little background, I still still live with my parents at 20 because I am unable to take care of myself due to medical reasons. I thought that if Im gonna live here, I should try and at least take care of the dog. I dont have a lot of experience with dogs as I never really had a pet growing up. I have simple tasks like feeding the dog, giving him a bath and sometimes just dog sitting while my parents are out. He started having vomiting issues lately but would act completely fine. My aunt had given us old dog food that she would use to feed her dog until he recently passed away and didnt want the food to go to waste. My dog didnt react well to the food and he would ofc vomit in response. So we switched his food back to the food that he was eating before. That seemed to do the trick for awhile until he vomited on my bed again. Is there a specific reason why dogs do this or if this is a normal dog thing to do? I would bring it up with my parents but they normally put him outside when he does this. Is there any tips you guys suggest for someone like me to follow? Its hard enough to keep up with my condition as I recently had an issue occur for me that has left me bedridden for a few days now but I still need to take care of my dog. Any tips would be useful.
