Hi, my boyfriend and I want to go to a family thing for a couple of nights during the weekend--a 2 hour drive max. We want to bring my 12 week old kitten with us since she wouldn't have any supervision and she gets lonely. We are staying in his mom's house and we got a portable litter box for my kitten, we have a carrier she's pretty comfortable in, and I'm bringing her small bed and favorite blanket as well.
I want to know if I'm making the right decision bringing her with me. I admittedly travel every now and then back home from college (like maybe once every two months for a weekend, and my hometown is 2 hours away with traffic) and I want to know if it's a smart decision to start training her to go places with me? Obviously if I am going for an extended period of time more than a week I will not hesitate to board her at our favorite vet and hotel.
She is an adventurous kitten and I don't know if it's because she's little or if that's just her personality. When I brought her home she immediately went out to explore my bathroom, no hiding or sticking to corners or anything. In fact, within an hour she was ready to leave the safe room. In the car on the way home she also wanted to get out and explore inside. She seems to be somewhat sociable, interacting with all my friends I bring over and is very energetic and loves to play. She seems pretty adaptable I think.
The thing is, I don't know if she is truly sociable, adaptable and adventurous-- I don't know if that's her personality or if shes just an excitable baby and she'll grow out of it. Is it wise to take her with me for a couple of nights? I don't want to cause her any distress or anything
TLDR; Can't tell if my kitten has the personality to travel or if she's just a baby and will grow out of it.
