Adopting a dog while living on a sailboat?

My partner and I are currently saving up for a sailboat to live aboard, with a target size in the 40' or larger range. We would love to have a dog aboard with us, and are doing all the research to ensure that dog would be safe and comfortable in our floating home. However, our current rental doesn't allow dogs, and I'm unsure an adoption agency would allow someone living on a boat to adopt- I know they are very selective, and for good reason. Does anyone with experience working with animal shelters have any idea how an adoption agency would react to this living situation?

For reference, we currently live on upper Cape Cod, where there is a tight housing market and very few rentals allow dogs (so moving to a dog-friendly apartment and adopting there, before buying, is tough, though of course an option if it comes up). I grew up with a dog my whole life and have worked at animal shelters and as a dog-walker and dog-sitter for years. We're interested in an adult dog, not a puppy, and would be looking for an active breed who would run and swim with us (both active human breeds) but settle down afterwards. We plan to liveaboard and stay in one place through the year (not going cruising around the world, at least at the moment). We both have steady well-paying dogs with dog-friendly offices. If there was a day one of us could not bring the dog along to work, they would go to day care- I would not plan to leave them alone on the boat. But would any of this planning matter to an adoption agency?
